Media Arts Thesis: Trucking Along

It's kind of weird not having a huge, seismic event to talk about in terms of the development of my thesis.

I'm not radically changing my gameplay, or rethinking the framing of my history, or going into an existential crisis; I'm merely working on a project that I believe in.

Now, this is not to say that I'm not tweaking my game as I develop it; certainly part of building a game is taking in feedback and incorporating it into the product in order to create a more wholly satisfying experience. In this case, I have tweaks in terms of how the simulation plays out and how the narrative branches out, sure.

Still, for the first time in a while, I'm just moving ahead with a clear picture of what I'm accomplishing. I feel more confident in my design than I ever have, and for now, my task is building out my prototype.

Another thing that's going to help me with this project is the fact that I'm not just bound to my thesis class anymore. The fact that I decided to take on the weekly meetings with Evan has really placed an impetus on me to build out at a more rapid clip than I would if I were only going to present at prototype showings.

Thus, I write this post from a place of general satisfaction. Let's hope it lasts.
